From their first concert in 2006, New Music Detroit has made it their mission to perform the music of living composers. For this performance, NMD has commissioned Annie Gosfield to write a piece inspired by Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry Murals. Annie Gosfield has long been inspired by the murals and the industrial elements in her compositional style are uniquely suited to the project.
